The Dreamsicle

This one came to me while I was trying to invent something else, (NA Triple Sec). Some really neat inventions came about this way like the Matchstick or Viagra. What does that have to do with this mocktail? Nothing, but those are fun little stories when you are talking with people (maybe while serving the this drink).
You can still buy Dreamsicles or their cousin the Creamsicle. The Dreamsicle is “healthier” as it uses ice milk rather than the fattier ice-cream in the Creamsicle. To most people, they are interchangeable. I’ll leave it to the scholars to debate the merits of each.
For the mocktail, I was experimenting with orange tea to make a Triple Sec alternative. This proved difficult as most orange teas aren’t just orange (although there are plenty of orange pekoe, orange spice, etc.). I finally found one that worked here that got me to the goal of “just orange” tea. When I double brewed this for NA Triple Sec it was too strong, but (eureka!) I bet this would make a great Dreamsicle. After some trial and error with different proportions and milks, I came up with the recipe below.
I have this filed under the mocktail-only tab because the alcoholic Dreamsicle drinks are really just adding the alcohol for the sake of it. (Usually vodka or whipped cream flavored vodka). Besides, this is a kids treat and the alcoholic versions give me children’s beauty pageant vibes.
