Vodka is the primary liquor in many drinks. This is of course because vodka by itself is kind of “just alcohol” without a distinctive flavor like gin or tequila.
I’m sure some vodka aficionados would fight me to the death disputing the merits of their favorite brand, but as a mixer it’s typically used to add alcohol rather than flavor. I’ve even had some people point out to me that some of my non-Mixology Mocktails would go great with some vodka (the Purple Nurple among others).
So coming up with a non-alcohol vodka is kind of like making freeze-dried water…challenging.
Vodka is not devoid of flavor, and the Mixology Mocktails that are served up, such as the Naahs-mopolitan need a vodka-esque ingredient.
Like many of my recipes I started out using a cold brewed tea. To get more of the alcohol flavor this one uses some salt and apple cider vinegar.
As with most of my NA liquors, this probably isn’t something that you would want to do shots of or drink on the rocks, but hey, to each his own.
